About the Artist

My name is Barbara Gonzalez and I am an independent artist with creative aspirations. I graduated from San Diego State University with a B.A. in Studio Arts. I have invested many years in my craft and continue to learn every single day. I primarily work in Black and White mediums. However, I recently decided to explore other art forms and the amount of techniques I have learned has helped me understand the journey of becoming the artist I want to become. I was fortunate enough to be featured in articles as well as participate in art gallery shows. And most recently, having my own solo show. My latest works of art have been focused on mental health, self love, while incorporating parts of my cultura to share my experiences of breaking generational cycles. As a first generation Mexican American, as a millennial I have come across challenges that have shaped who I am as an artist and overall who I am as a person. I know with my work I can share these stories and emotions with others. On occasion, I do enjoy other creations that involve other subjects such as my love for wildlife and nature. Of course, every viewer has different interpretations of my work but that is the beauty of it all, I just let my art speak for me. Life is my daily inspiration in my work because life itself is very beautiful no matter how we look at it. I would like to continue to inspire and share art until I am no more, art is and forever be a part of me.
